An exuberant vegetation has covered the topography of the pluvial tropical forest. Below of the trees highest it is the sub-forest: adapted small trees to the shade. More below still, they are to the tolerant grass and catch-crops the shady conditions. Enroscadas in the branches of the trees if finds the lianas (trepadeiras tropical Sylvesters). The branches of the trees and the lianas serve as support for the epfitas plants; this type of plant grows adhered to the trees, but it extracts its nutrients of the water that drips of these.
The epfitas most common in the pluvial tropical forest are the orqudeas, bromlias and samambaias.
